All our major export markets, such as: Japan, China, Singapore, U.S.A., Canada, and other European countries etc. use ECO-LABELLING systems to promote “green” consumerism, and encourage industries to reduce wastes that contribute to environmental degradation. The Hong Kong Green Label, the first independent voluntary eco-labelling scheme in Hong Kong, for the certification of environmentally friendly products. The Scheme encourages consumers to select green products on one hand, and encourages manufacturers to recycle materials on the other.
The Green Council now provides a similar service in Hong Kong for 40 products under 8 categories covering paper, plastic, cleaning, stationary, common consumable, computer, electrical household appliances and construction materials. The coverage of the Scheme will be expanding in response to public needs.
Since the launching of the Green Label Scheme in December 2000 had received positive response. We are very pleased to announce the first batch of Green Label will be awarded to Five Ocean Chemical Co. Ltd. for two types of paints under product category (GL-005-003), Basetech Brand SPU 32 Parquet Finish (Solvent based) and Basetech Brand Nycvar Emulsion Paint (Water based).
